The Medical Pioneers and Innovators Collection contains images of physicians, surgeons and scientists who influenced the profession. These men and women laid the groundwork and formulated the standards and practices of the medical world. All major figures involved in nineteenth and early twentieth century discoveries, including medical and surgical practitioners, are represented, including such luminaries as the Curies, Pasteur, Freud, Koch, Metchinkoff, Erlich, and Osler. Likewise, surgical innovators such as Halstead, Cushing, Kelly, Crile, Mayo, Czerny, and Sayre are captured operating.
