The Nursing Collection is one the most comprehensive groupings in The Burns Archive. The role of nursing in war, surgery, hospital and home care is widely documented. Pediatric and newborn care is particularly represented with rare images of nineteenth century incubators. Albums kept by nurses of their experiences in hospitals and during wars are a highlight of The Collection, most notably, albums of American nurses in the Russo-Japanese War, WWI and the Bellevue Hospital Training School For Male Nurses.
